Manic May 2009
We've had a very adventurous last couple weeks. We decided a couple weeks back to take the train out to L.A. and visit the old historic Olvera St. Kaia and I met up with the Rivas' (Steve was at work and Shae was with grandma) and headed out to the train station. Once there... we met up with the Salva's and set sail on a Mexican adventure full of one room bathrooms and stuffed pony pictures.
We also had a beach bonfire adventure in celebration of Ari and Alana's birthdays. Shae and I spent the night at my mom's house (Steve was again at work and Kaia was meeting us at the beach with her dad) and headed out to Bolsa Chica at 6am in the big RV. We stayed all day, rented a four seater bicycle (yes, you still have to pedal even if you sit in the back seat)roasted marshmallows by firelight and played endless rounds of silly games.
Things around the house have been undergoing maintenance so the place looks like it's in shambles. It's really organized chaos but no one believes me. We sanded and painted the hallway doors that have been up for God knows how long. The kids thought the idea of sandpaper was fun and exciting so you're darn right, we put them to work!
I also had the pleasure of being requested to do a cake. It was for the very special ladies' basketball team from Brea Olinda High School, who also happen to be NATIONAL CHAMPS. The cake is a replica (to the best of my ability) of the ring that they designed themselves. Congratulations Amanda!!
Today we celebrated Kaia's birthday with her preschool class! I know her birthday's a little ways away but next week is her last week of school and I didn't want her birthday party to interfere with any last week of school festivities. It worked out well and I really enjoyed seeing her in her classroom environment =)
Now it's on to her birthday party on Sunday... I'm still trying to gear up for that amidst updating things here around the house. Pictures of the party to follow soon =)
